Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 A day after sweeping a doubleheader from Valley Forge Christian, the Lancaster Bible baseball team got a taste of its own medicine on Saturday as Mount Aloysius took two games from the Chargers, 3-2 and 10-1.
The first game was a pitcher's dual as
Justin Long was the hard luck loser for the Chargers. Long pitched seven strong innings and did not allow an earned run, but the LBC offense couldn't plate the tying run in the seventh inning as LBC lost a one-run game for the third straight time to the Mounties.
Nate Long,
Brian Taliercio and
Caleb Mayer each had two hits for the Chargers (4-8) in game one as Long is now batting .441 this season and has 15 hits in 12 games.
Game two was a much different story as the Mounties (9-5) took advantage of five LBC errors en route to a 10-1 victory. LBC starter
Micah McClay allowed all 10 runs, but just two were earned as the LBC defense continued its early-season struggles.
Junior
Matt Taliercio hit a home run for the second straight day for the lone LBC run. Taliercio leads the Chargers with 14 RBI and is second on the team in hitting at .349.
Freshman
Frankie Herr and junior
Nate Horn came out of the LBC bullpen and pitched 3.2 innings of no-hit ball, but once again, the LBC bats fell silent as the Chargers dropped to 4-8.
The Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they face Lancaster County neighbor Franklin & Marshall at 3:30 on the campus of F & M.
