Box Score The Lancaster Bible baseball team traveled to Lancaster County neighbor Franklin & Marshall for the first time in program history on Wednesday and lost, 17-8. Separated by just under four miles, the teams had never faced one another prior to Wednesday and though the Chargers lost their third straight game, players and coaches alike took positives away from their final game prior to Easter Break.
Trailing, 8-1 after two innings, the Chargers battled back with four runs in the top of the fourth, three of which came from
Matt Taliercio as he smashed his third home run of the season. Taliercio finished the day, 2-for-5 with four runs batted in, increasing his team lead to 18. The Diplomats answered right back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs and led, 11-5 after four innings.
The Chargers (4-9) scored three runs over the next two innings as well, but F & M had an answer in the bottom of each inning as well and eventually tacked on three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 17-8 victory.
Senior
Tim Landis, Jr. had his best game of the season, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Peter Shue and
Brian Taliercio also had two hits for the Chargers, while
Sean Westerlund stole his sixth base of the season.
