Gettysburg Overpowers Lancaster Bible

Box Score The Lancaster Bible baseball team lost its final game of the regular season on Tuesday as Gettysburg smacked 20 hits and capitalized on seven Chargers' errors en route to an 18-6 victory in Gettysburg, Pa.

LBC starter Jake Ritchey pitched 4 2/3 innings of solid baseball, but was undone by mistakes in the field as the Chargers committed four errors while Ritchey was on the mound. Ritchey allowed 11 runs, but just one was earned. The mistakes continued as Kody Godsey, Jerel Chavis and Kevin Medina finished out the game on the hill for LBC. Of the 18 runs scored by Gettysburg, just eight were earned.

The seven errors, a season-long problem that has cost the Chargers several games this season, were a new game-high for LBC.

One of the few bright spots for LBC was Frank DiFilippo who was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. DiFilippo drove in three runs and scored two runs. All three runs driven in came off his second home run of the year which was a blast that was still being talked about after the game.

Caleb Mayer, Sean Westerlund and Nate Long had the three other hits for LBC as the Chargers fell to 7-23 this season.

The Chargers will have a chance to salvage something of this season on Saturday when they host Cairn in the NCCAA East Region Final at 1 p.m. The winner of Saturday's game will represent the East Region in the NCCAA Division II World Series next week in Mason, Ohio.

Prior to the game, LBC will honor its six seniors, Frank DiFilippo, Tim Landis, Jr., Jerel Chavis, Richard Westerlund, Sean Westerlund and Justin Long.
