Back to the Win Column

Box Score After being humbled by Swarthmore, 6-0 on Wednesday night, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team got back to winning on Sunday as they shutout SUNYIT, 2-0.

The Chargers improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in NEAC play thanks to goals by Alyssa Wesner and Monica Horning. Both players assisted on one another's goals as they each ended the day with three points.

Wesner opened the scoring with 5:13 left in the first half as she headed in her fifth goal of the season. The score remained the same until Horning gave LBC some breathing room with 12:15 to play with her third goal of the year.

"I thought we played well in the first half," Chargers Head Coach Ken Craul said. "We were able to stretch the field and get some scoring opportunities, but we need to start recognizing what our options are and make some better decisions."

Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Scheuing recorded her third shutout of the season as she made seven saves for the Chargers. LBC had 19 shots, eight of which were on goal.

Though she didn't figure in the scoring, Craul thought sophomore Bethany Stein played very well.

"Stein played well and remained active for the entire 90 minutes," Craul said.

LBC (3-2, 2-0 NEAC) returns to action on Thursday when they host Baptist Bible at 4 p.m. The Chargers defeated the Defenders twice last season, each by a 2-1 decision.

Notes:
-LBC is now 2-0 against SUNYIT all-time. The Chargers won a wild one last season in Lancaster, 5-3.
