Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday, falling to Penn St. Harrisburg, 4-1 in Middletown, Pa. Freshman
Matt Nargi scored his first collegiate goal in the loss that dropped LBC to 1-5-1 this season.
Jonathan Vanaskie scored 12:55 into the game on a goal the Chargers would like to have back and Tommy Miller doubled Harrisburg's lead less than seven minutes later to make it 2-0.
"Giving up that goal early on didn't help us, but we were able to get back into the game towards the end of the half and got a nice goal from Matt," Chargers Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "I thought we moved the ball well at the end of the half and did a nice job creating chances."
The momentum would not last much past halftime as Harrisburg scored 5:59 into the second half to restore their two-goal lead. Just over 13 minutes later, the lead was increased to 4-1 and the Chargers were on their way to their fourth straight loss.
"Harrisburg is a physical team and they defended well and counter attacked well too," Ardt said.
Despite the loss, Ardt was pleased with many of the LBC players and their performances.
"
Kurt Keltner did a great job stepping into the center-back role for the first time," Ardt said. "For just jumping right into that position, he did really well and provided some leadership back there.
Josiah Groff played well in the midfield again, we just need to not give up those early goals and keep working hard."
The Chargers (1-5-1, 1-1 NEAC) return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. to face Baptist Bible at 4 p.m.
