Box Score It was a good week for the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team.Â
Three wins (two of them NEAC victories), lots of scoring by many players, and not a single goal allowed.
LBC finished off the week by defeating Wilson, 5-0 on Saturday in Chambersburg, Pa. Sophomores
Bethany Stein and
Brooke Cullum each scored twice, while junior
Evelyn Stauffer added the other LBC goal.
Kirsten Webster,
Monica Horning and
Naomi Otis each added an assist.Â
The Chargers (5-2, 3-0 NEAC) scored in bunches on Saturday as they scored four times in a 12-minute span that included the halftime break. Cullum scored her second goal of the year at the 34:34 mark to make it 2-0, and added another goal just 1:29 later to make it 3-0. Stein put her second goal of the game into the net 7:01 later and Stauffer capped the scoring 1:40 into the second half to make it 5-0.Â
Chargers' goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Scheuing made two saves for her third straight shutout and fifth of the season. The Chargers have not had three straight shutouts since 2011 when they had five consecutive clean sheets from Oct. 20 to Nov. 5.Â
"Bit of a slow start for us today, but we finished well and did what we had to do," Chargers Head Coach
Ken Craul said.
LBC will look to continue its strong play on Monday when the Chargers host Penn St. Berks in a rematch of last year's NEAC Final. Berks is 2-0 in NEAC play and though the game takes place early in the season, many feel these two teams could once again meet deep in the postseason, thus making the winner of this game a possible host for the NEAC Playoffs.
Monday's game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
