After three weeks of practice, the Lancaster Bible women's tennis team played their lone match of the fall season and defeated Cairn, 5-4 in Langhorne, Pa. The Chargers came back and won after losing two of the three doubles matches.
Julia Dariychuk and Anna Stefano each won a doubles and singles match to lead the Chargers. Dariychuk and Stefano won their number two doubles match, 8-4, while Stefano won her number two doubles match, 6-4, 6-1 over Liana Jensen. Dariychuk's singles match took much longer as she had to battle back from a set down to defeat Natalie Livingston, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
The Chargers (1-0) also got victories from
Carmin Nachtigal, who won her number one singles match, 6-4, 6-4 and
Kacie Scott who was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at number three singles.Â
"It was great to win our only match of the fall, as well as getting some experience playing three sets," Chargers Head Coach Ethan McNaughton said.Â
LBC will wrap-up fall practice in the coming days and will pick up with their traditional season on February 1, 2014. The Chargers will play nine more matches in the spring, including five NEAC tilts. The Chargers will open the traditional season on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 when they host Eastern at 3 p.m.
