Box Score On a night when President Barack Obama was giving his State of the Union Address to Congress just a few miles away, it's hard to imagine that Lancaster Bible junior
Shanice Smith wouldn't have gotten a standing ovation from both Democrats and Republicans for the performance she put on Tuesday night.
Smith had 15 points and 23 rebounds as the Chargers stayed perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a 71-57 victory over Gallaudet. Sophomore
Katy Stover added a team-high 19 points, while senior
Brooklyn Wilson was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in the first half en route to 15 points.
Due in large part to Wilson's hot hand in the opening 20 minutes, the Chargers took a 38-25 lead into the break. Lancaster Bible shot 59.3% [16-of-27] in the first half, including 6-of-10 from three-point range.
"We shot the ball well in the first half and Brooklyn was making three like it was her job," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "I thought we had great effort and contribution from everyone across the board all night long."
For the second straight game and fourth time this season, the Chargers had 20 or more assists as they recorded an assist on 20 of their 28 buckets.
"We moved the ball really well again," Helsel said. "Tonight is a big win, not only because it is a road win, but because Gallaudet was in second place and we were able to create even more separation in the standings."
Sophomore
Aubrey Folger continued her strong play as well with 17 points and 11 rebounds as she played all 40 minutes. Both Folger and Stover added six assists for the Chargers who improved to 12-5 overall and 9-0 in NEAC play as they won their sixth straight game.Â
Lancaster Bible will look to make it seven straight on Friday night when they host SUNY Cobleskill at 8 p.m.Â
