The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team is back on top of the NCCAA East Region as the Chargers defeated the upstart University of Valley Forge, 3-0 in the East Region Final. The Patriots shocked Cairn, 3-0 in the East Region Semifinal to earn a berth in the Final.
In the Final, the Chargers dominated play from the opening serve. Despite some hiccups along the way, Lancaster Bible cruised to a 25-16, 25-14, 25-9 victory.Â

Katie Coomber, who was named NCCAA East Region Player of the Year following the match, led the Chargers with nine kills, eight digs, four service aces and six assists. Sophomore
Emily Olson had eight kills and two blocks, while junior
Hannah Derr had five kills to go with her 14 digs and 21 assists.Â

Joanna Butala also had five kills to go with six digs, and freshman
Myranda Kemrer had five kills, nine digs and two aces. Junior
Grace Scheuerman added 11 digs and senior
Amanda Maltzahn had two kills and three digs.Â
"Today is a good representation of our hard work throughout the season," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Lauren Bewley said. "However, we need to keep getting better and there are certainly things we can improve on. The NEAC playoffs will be another great test for us and we are going to get better at each practice this coming week."
Saturday's win also broke the program-record for wins in a season as the Chargers now stand at 18-12. The previous record of 17 was set in 2010 and 2012.Â
Lancaster Bible returns to the court next Saturday when they face Bridgewater and Catholic in Washington, D.C. The matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
