The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team went on the road Wednesday night and defeated NCCAA East Region rivals Valley Forge and Cairn. For their victories, the Chargers won't have to go on the road for the upcoming NCCAA East Region Playoffs as they secured home-court advantage when the tournament is played on Saturday, October 25. Lancaster Bible's record now stands at 13-8 and this is the latest the Chargers have been over the .500 mark since the 2009 season. Below is a recap of each match from Wednesday evening.

Lancaster Bible freshman
Myranda Kemrer had a match-high 13 kills, while senior
Katie Coomber had 11 kills and 10 digs. Junior
Grace Scheuerman also had 10 digs, while junior
Hannah Derr had 24 assists and seven digs.
Courtney White,
Amanda Maltzahn and
Joanna Butala each had three kills apiece as the Chargers improved to 47-14 all-time against the Patriots. Lancaster Bible has defeated Valley Forge 11 straight times and have not lost to the Patriots since the 2007 NCCAA East Region Final.
Lancaster Bible 3, Cairn 125-20, 25-11, 18-25, 25-13
Coomber had a season-high 22 kills to pace the Chargers as they defeated Cairn for the second time this season. After cruising to the first two sets, the Highlanders played much better in the third set and won, 25-18. The Chargers regained their stride however in the fourth and pulled away for a 25-13 win. Kemrer once again had double-digit kills as she finished with 11 to go with her team-high 21 digs. Wednesday's nightcap marked the sixth time this season Kemrer has finished with 18 digs or more in a match.Â
Derr finished with a season-high 42 assists as well to go her 15 digs, while fellow junior
Grace Scheuerman also had 15 digs. Maltzahn added six kills, six digs and four aces as well for the Chargers who improved to 11-34 all-time against Cairn.
Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Saturday when they face Muhlenberg and Washington (Md.) in Chestertown, Md. The matches are slated for 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively.Â
