Box Score Whether it's seeing the green jerseys or just playing well in big games, Lancaster Bible senior
Brooklyn Wilson seems to have a knack for playing well against Keuka. Wilson starred in last season's NEAC Final when she helped the Chargers to a 67-63 win with 20 points and used Friday night's Senior Night as an encore as she scored 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting and dished out four assists in a 75-62 Lancaster Bible victory.
Wilson was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc as she and the Chargers won their 12th straight game and improved to 18-5 overall and 14-0 in NEAC play. The win is Lancaster Bible's 22nd straight regular season NEAC victory and 24th if you count last season's playoff games.
The Chargers needed Wilson's offense on Friday as the rest of the team went cold for much of the night and things worsened when
Shanice Smith left with an injury.Â
"My confidence comes from my teammates," Wilson said. "I haven't shot as much this season, but my teammates have always stayed positive with me. We played through a lot this season and it's nice, with our rebounding ability, to know that if I miss, it's probably coming back to me because we always seem to get the board."
Wilson also mentioned the Chargers' ability to play with many different lineups due to injuries this season. The Chargers got one of their main pieces back on Friday night as junior
Sarah Heilenman played for the first time since January 11.
"We trust one another completely and no matter who is in, we know we have a job to do," Wilson said. "If one goes down, another person steps up and tonight I felt like I had to be that person. I like leading and knew I had to score tonight."
Head Coach Doug Helsel echoed Wilson's comments as he was proud of the way she and her teammates played on Friday.
"Brooklyn and Sarah were great tonight," Helsel said. "You can look at everyone and say something they did well tonight. From
Meaghan Williams and
Christy Lorah rebounding and hitting timely shots to
Aubrey Folger and
Katy Stover working through tough shooting nights to get us points. Everyone had a hand in tonight's win."
Williams and Lorah combined for 11 of Lancaster Bible's 41 rebounds, something Helsel was pleased to see.
"We've been talking about our guards rebounding better and tonight they stepped up," Helsel said.Â
Folger shot just 3-of-14 from the field, but was 13-of-14 from the free throw line en route to 19 points and 13 rebounds. Stover was just 4-of-12 from the floor, but all four of her buckets were from the beyond the arc, as she added 16 points.
Heilenman meanwhile had, in Helsel's words, "A stereotypical Sarah stat line," as she went for nine points, three assists, three steals and a rebound, while turning the ball over just once.
Senior
Emily Martz added a rebound and assist as well for the Chargers who are now 3-1 all-time against Keuka.Â
Danielle Gravel led Keuka with 18 points as the Storm fell to 9-9 overall and 8-5 in NEAC play.
The Chargers have two games left in the regular season. They face Penn St. Abington on Tuesday and wrap-up the regular season on Friday at SUNYIT.Â
