Box Score With the North Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season title already wrapped up, the Lancaster Bible women's basketball team is now shooting for a perfect conference record and they completed one more step in the journey on Tuesday night in Abington, Pa. with a 63-44 victory at Penn St. Abington.
Senior
Brooklyn Wilson led the Chargers for the second straight game as she poured in 17 points and added three assists to help the Chargers improve to 19-5 overall and 15-0 in NEAC play. The win is the 13th straight for the Chargers as they have not lost since January 13 when Elizabethtown beat them, 72-55.
Junior
Sarah Heilenman, in just her second game back from a six-week absence, had 15 points and four rebounds for the Chargers, while sophomore
Aubrey Folger chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds. Junior
Meaghan Williams also had six points and five rebounds for Lancaster Bible.
The Chargers held Penn St. Abington (5-15, 3-11 NEAC) three points below their season average and one of their best player to 1-of-10 shooting.
"I was really happy with our defensive effort tonight," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "Some of the ladies didn't have shots going in on the offensive end, but they really picked it up defensively."
Lancaster Bible was 18-of-21 from the free throw line and outrebounded the Nittany Lions, 37-29.
The Chargers will play their final regular season game on Friday when they face SUNYIT at 7 p.m. in Utica, N.Y. The Wildcats were the last NEAC team to beat Lancaster Bible which occurred over a year ago, January 21, 2013. That day, SUNYIT won, 88-81. This will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
Lancaster Bible will then be off until Saturday, March 1 when they host the NEAC Final Four.
