Chargers Making Return Trip to NEAC Final

Box Score They're baaaaack.

The Lancaster Bible women's basketball team punched its ticket to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final for the second straight season on Saturday as the Chargers overcame early jitters to crush Keuka, 71-48 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers will face Wells in the NEAC Final on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Express took down Gallaudet, 54-51 in the other NEAC Semifinal on Saturday.

The Chargers found themselves in an early hole as they trailed Keuka, 18-10 with 11:24 to go after a Danielle Gravel 3-pointer gave the Storm an eight point lead. Lancaster Bible (21-5) didn't panic though and used a 26-6 run the rest of the first half to build a 36-24 halftime lead. Leading the charge for the Chargers was sophomore Aubrey Folger.

Folger had 11 points in the first half, while clutch outside shooting helped the Chargers fight back and take the lead. Lancaster Bible was 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first half and 9-of-13 from the free throw line.

"I think we were nervous a little bit, but after we calmed down, we did a good job of finding our rhythm," Lancaster Bible senior Emily Martz said. "Our big thing is positive energy and when we get down like that, it doesn't really bother us and we get back to work."

Their work didn't end at halftime either as the Chargers opened the second half on a 14-7 run which was aided by two technical fouls by Keuka. A layup by Keuka's Jessica Bandrowski cut the Chargers' lead to 52-35, but Lancaster Bible went on another run, this time a 14-0 run and after a free throw by Richelle Kane with 6:24 to go, the score stood at 66-35 Chargers and the rout was on.

Folger finished with a game-high 26 points and added seven rebounds, while junior Sarah Heilenman made her mark all over the score sheet as she scored 10 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out four assists, had three blocks and three steals.

"Aubrey couldn't be guarded tonight," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Doug Helsel said. "All of our players found good situations for themselves to be successful tonight and it paid off."

Sophomore Katy Stover added 14 points and four assists as well, while senior Brooklyn Wilson, who had another good game against Keuka, had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Taylor Szwec led the Storm with 16 points, while Casey Chamberlain added 10 points and six boards.

The win is the 15th straight for the Chargers who haven't lost since January 13. Lancaster Bible faced Wells once during the regular season and defeated the Express, 67-58 in Aurora, N.Y. Wells is led by NEAC Player of the Year, Ashley Roser who had 25 points and 11 rebounds in Wells' victory on Saturday night against Gallaudet.
