Chargers Drop Second Straight

Box Score The trouble started early for Lancaster Bible on Sunday as the Chargers gave up seven runs before they had an at-bat and Penn Tech cruised to a 20-2 victory in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

A day after errors cost the Chargers in a 9-8 loss to King's, Lancaster Bible committed an error on the first play of the game and things went south from there as the Wildcats took a 7-0 lead and never looked back.

Lancaster Bible scored its two runs in the fifth inning as a Ryan Hartline ground out scored Brian Nidergall and Justin Taylor, the next batter, reached on an error that scored Nate Burns. Those runs cut the deficit to 8-2, but the Wildcats got one run back in the sixth and opened the floodgates in the seventh as they scored eight more runs.

Mitch Kumher pitched well for Lancaster Bible as he entered the game in the second inning and pitched four innings of one-hit ball. Kumher struck out five and allowed just one run.

The Chargers (0-2) managed just three hits as Erich Carroll, Nate Long and Matt Taliercio each had a single.

Lancaster Bible will play twice on Monday as they take on Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) at 10 a.m. and turn right around to face Albertus Magnus (Conn.) at 1 p.m.
