Lancaster Bible Wins 5th Straight

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible softball team continued its winning ways on Wednesday as they swept Valley Forge Christian at Garrett Park in Willow Street, Pa. The Chargers took game one, 13-0 and game two, 10-2. The wins improve the Chargers to an overall record of 11-19.

Freshman Kelsey Collins led the way in game one as she struck out 11 batters in four innings of work. She recorded nine straight strikeouts at one point and earned her ninth win of the season. Offensively, senior Ally Brown had three hits and scored three runs, while Ali Morton, Richelle Kane and Kathryn Ritter each had two hits. Morton also scored three runs in game one, while Emily Lloyd was 1-for-2 with a run and RBI.

Collins starred once again in game two, however it was her bat that led the way this time. Collins was 4-for-4 in game two with six runs batted in and she scored two runs as well. Kane was 2-for-2 with four runs scored, while Nicole Valinteno was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Junior Marissa Hardy picked up her second win of the season as she scattered six hits over five innings and struck out two. 

The Chargers have four North Eastern Athletic Conference games remaining as they host St. Elizabeth on Friday and Penn St. Abington on Saturday. Lancaster Bible trails Wilson by two games for the third and final playoff spot in the NEAC South Division. The Phoenix face Gallaudet on Saturday and Penn St. Abington on Monday. Friday's doubleheader begins at 3 p.m., while Saturday's Senior Day doubleheader will start at 12 p.m. All four games will be played at Garrett Field in Willow Street, Pa.
