Box Score 2 The early season struggles seem to be a thing of the past for the Lancaster Bible softball team. The Chargers took two games from St. Elizabeth on Saturday in Morristown, N.J. as they won game one, 8-0 and game two, 9-5.
Lancaster Bible freshman
Kelsey Collins spun the program's first-ever no-hitter in the Chargers game one victory. Collins struck out nine in five innings as Lancaster Bible earned its first shutout of the season. At the plate, sophomore
Ali Morton led the way as she was 4-for-4 with four runs batted in. She doubled in two runs in the second inning and singled home another two runs in the third. Joining her in the offensive explosion was senior
Kathryn Ritter who finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
As good as her arm was on the mound, Collins did well with the bat in game one as well as she was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Sophomore
Richelle Kane added the other Lancaster Bible hit and run as the Chargers won in five innings.
Game two featured a little more offense from the two teams as the Chargers won, 9-5. Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first as they scored three runs via the passed ball. The Screaming Eagles scored four runs over the second, third and fourth innings to tie the game at 4-4, but the Chargers scored twice in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Lancaster Bible extended it to 8-4 in the sixth and Morton's RBI single in the seventh that scored Ritter made it 9-5.
Morton was at it again in game two as she was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while
Anna Harris, Kane and Ritter each had two hits. Kane scored three runs and added an RBI, while Ritter scored and had an RBI of her own as well. Morton finished the day 7-for-8 with five RBI and three runs scored, while Collins picked the win in game two as well. Over the two games, Collins struck out 20 batters and allowed just four earned runs.
