Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible baseball team wrapped up the 2014 season with losses to Cedarville and Toccoa Falls on Friday at the NCCAA World Series in Mason, Ohio. The Chargers lost the first game to the Yellow Jackets, 10-1 and fell to the Eagles 16-2 in the nightcap. Despite the losses, Lancaster Bible ends the season with 17 wins, which ties the 2012 squad for the most wins in program history.
Seniors
Micah McClay and
Matt Taliercio each had two hits against Cedarville as the Chargers smacked nine hits. Junior
Nate Long was 1-for-4 with a run scored and for his efforts over the four games, Long was named to the World Series All-Tournament Team.Â
Nate Burns pitched five innings for the Chargers against the Yellow Jackets as he allowed seven hits and just four earned runs. Junior
Mitch Kumher relieved Burns and in four innings he allowed three runs, but none were earned. Kumher allowed five hits, but walked just one and struck out one.
Lancaster Bible (17-22) actually took a 1-0 lead against Toccoa Falls and held that lead until the bottom of the third when the Eagles scored nine times and blew the game wide open. Taliercio was 3-for-4 with two triples against Toccoa Falls and with his three hits, Taliercio finished the season with 69 hits and a .496 batting average. That average still leads NCAA Division III and his 69 hits is the new program record for hits in a single season.Â

Josiah Weaver, McClay and Taliercio. Godsey, Weaver and McClay were part of the 2012 team that won 17 games as well and in their four seasons, they helped Lancaster Bible to 52 victories.Â
