The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team lost its second straight match on Thursday as the Chargers fell to Mount Aloysius, 3-1. The Mounties won, 25-20, 22-25, 35-33, 25-13.Â
After splitting the first two sets, Mount Aloysius won the marathon third set as the Mounties took control of the match with a 35-33 victory. Believed to be the longest set in program history, it was the first time the Chargers have played a set in which the score reached the 30-point mark since last season when Lancaster Bible took the opening set against The King's College, 30-28 on Sept. 30, 2013.
Senior
Katie Coomber led the Chargers with 14 kills, while freshman
Myranda Kemrer had 13 kills and 25 digs. Junior
Grace Scheuerman had 34 digs which ties her for the second most in a single match in program history. Her 34 digs tie Lauren Heliger's output against Catholic on Oct. 12, 2011 and are two short of the record 36 digs that Heliger recorded against Ohio Christian on Sept. 15, 2012.
Emily Olson and
Hannah Derr each had seven kills, while Derr also added 27 assists and two aces.
The Chargers (7-8) are off for over a week as they don't take the court again until Friday, Oct. 3 when they resume North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a tilt against Penn College. That match will open a weekend of four NEAC matches for the Chargers, all of which will take place at Penn St. Abington. Lancaster Bible will take on Bryn Athyn, St. Elizabeth and the host Nittany Lions that weekend as well.
