Box Score A season ago, the Cazenovia Wildcats handed the Lancaster Bible men's soccer team its worst loss of the season. It wasn't so much the score, 5-2, but the way the Wildcats earned the win as they scored all five goals in the first half and four of the five in a 17-minute barrage that ended the Chargers' chances to make the NEAC Playoffs.Â
On Friday, on the same field, Lancaster Bible got a little payback as they defeated the Wildcats, 4-1. Four different goal scorers had goals for the Chargers as
Bradley Wilcox,
Edward Bills,
Matt Nargi and
Darrell Goff each scored and helped the Chargers improve to 2-1 this season and 1-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.Â
"I'm really proud of the guys and the way they played today," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We defended well and gave ourselves great chances going the other way. I thought we did a great job with short passes as well as passes over the top. I think our execution so far this season has been great and I'm pleased with how we are playing right now."
Goalkeeper
Andrew Kofstad made five saves for the Chargers to earn his second win of the season.Â
In addition to scoring on a penalty kick with just over 20 minutes to play in the second half, Goff added an assist on Bills' goal in the first half, while
Josiah Groff and
Dylan Papiernik also had helpers for the Chargers.Â
The win over Cazenovia is the first in program history for the Chargers who had lost the first three games between the two teams.
Lancaster Bible will look to make it three straight on Saturday when they face Morrisville State at 6 p.m. in Morrisville, N.Y.
