Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team saw its two-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday evening as Morrisville State scored three second half goals and defeated the Chargers, 4-1 in Morrisville, N.Y. The loss drops the Chargers back to the .500 mark at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
Freshman
Ivan Correa scored the lone goal for Lancaster Bible, while Enoch Navarette had an assist. The goal was the first in Correa's collegiate career.
The Mustangs scored just 14 minutes into the game and held that lead through halftime. Correa tied the contest 12 minutes into the second half as he scored off a rebound. The game would not stay tied for long as six minutes later, the Chargers committed a foul in the box that led to a penalty kick. Danny Peckham converted the chance for Morrisville State who then added insurance goals at the 80-minute and 84-minute mark.
"Morrisville State is a quick and organized team," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We had trouble marking effectively with the fast surface and their fast movement. I was happy we were still able to create some scoring chances."
Ardt said he was pleased with the team's effort overall this weekend, but the squad must continue to improve and work hard on becoming a better team in every part of the game.Â
"We need to put lots of work in," Ardt said. "It's all about what we do on the training field at this point."
The Chargers will have just one practice, Monday, before returning to game action as they host new NEAC member Bryn Athyn on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
Notes:-Lancaster Bible has never beaten Morrisville State in four chances as they fell to 0-2-2 against the Mustangs.
