Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team took advantage of an early miscue by Morrisville State on Saturday and was off to the races as the Chargers scored four times in the first 18 minutes en route to a 5-0 thrashing of the Mustangs in Morrisville, N.Y.
Four minutes into the game,
Sarah Heilenman's free kick was misplayed by the Mustangs' goalkeeper and
Monica Lambertson was there to put it into an empty net and give the Chargers an early 1-0 lead. Just over five minutes later,
Bethany Stein scored her first goal of the game as she snuck past the Morrisville State defense and scored on a breakaway.
The rout was on two minutes later when
Emily Beltran extended the Chargers' lead to 3-0 just 11:10 into the game. Stein's second goal of the game at 17:23 gave Lancaster Bible a 4-0 lead and put them on cruise control the rest of the way. Heilenman added a goal off of a free kick with just over a minute to play in the game as Lancaster Bible completed the weekend sweep in New York.
"It was nice to see us play well off of yesterday's win," Chargers Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We were organized and kept the same pace from yesterday which is difficult to do sometimes. I thought the team played very well."
Lancaster Bible outshot the Mustangs, 28-1 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Junior
Kaitlyn Scheuing made one save as she posted her second consecutive shutout.
The Chargers (3-1, 2-0 NEAC) are back in action on Tuesday when they host Goucher at 4:30 p.m.
Notes:-Lancaster Bible improved to 4-0 all-time against Morrisville State with Saturday's victory.
