Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Zach Freeman

A Baker's Dozen for the Chargers

The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team won its 13th straight game on Friday night as the Chargers defeated Keuka, 66-57 in Keuka Park, N.Y. The victory improves the Chargers to 13-1 overall this season and a perfect 7-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The win also continues the fourth longest winning streak in NCAA Division III as the Chargers trail Marietta (16), Chapman (15) and Albertus Magnus (13).

On Friday, Lancaster Bible shot 22-of-42 (52.4 percent) from the field, including a season-best 10-of-15 from beyond the arc. Jordan Mellinger was Lancaster Bible's hottest shooter as he was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc en route to 11 points. Senior Albert Suniga was not far behind as he was 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point land on his way to a team-high 14 points.

"Jordan hit a couple of huge shots for us and Albert was solid at both ends of the floor," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Marshall Tague said.

Not to be left out of the 3-pointer party was senior Naheer Mirza who knocked down two big 3-pointers as well, including one five minutes into the second half that gave Lancaster Bible it's biggest lead of the game at 43-31.

"Naheer had a really good stretch in the second half and he, along with our other guards, played pretty good defense tonight," Tague said.

Junior CJ Dunston had 13 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season,

Keuka's Trevor Healey had a game-high 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting, but the rest of the Wolfpack managed just 29 points on 13-of-37 shooting. Keuka drops to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in NEAC play.

Lancaster Bible is right back in action on Saturday as the Chargers take on Wells in Aurora, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. as the Chargers will look to win their 14th straight game and improve to 4-0 against the NEAC North Division.
