For the second straight day, the Lancaster Bible women's tennis team lost to a Penn State foe as Berks defeated the Chargers, 8-1 on Wednesday in Reading, Pa. Tuesday it was Abington who handed the Chargers a loss and the back-to-back losses drop Lancaster Bible to 1-8 this season and 1-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.Â
Penn St. Berks won all three doubles matches fairly easily as Lancaster Bible's number one doubles team of
Morgan Adams and
Brianne Smith put up the most fight in their 8-4 loss to Nandita Munindra and Lexi Vidal.Â
Adams exacted some revenge in singles play however as she took down Munindra, 6-2, 6-4 at number one singles. Adams has won three of her past four singles matches and is now 4-4 overall this season with all of her matches coming at number one singles.Â
The rest of the singles matches went handily to Penn St. Berks as Megan Antosy defeated Smith at number two singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Florence Kurtz got past Lancaster Bible's
Kayla Weaser, 6-1, 6-0. The Chargers'
Stephanie Blest lost her number four singles match, 6-1, 6-1, while
Malinda Roth fell at number five singles, 6-1, 6-0. Senior
Alicia Vossler lost, 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles.
Because of earlier postponements, the Chargers are in the midst of playing four matches in four days. They will continue the march on Thursday as Lancaster Bible will head to Morristown, N.J. to face St. Elizabeth. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Chargers will then wrap-up the regular season on Friday at Penn College in Williamsport, Pa.
