The Lancaster Bible women's tennis team set a new program record for conference wins in a season on Friday as the Chargers defeated Penn College, 7-2 for their third North Eastern Athletic Conference win of the season. The win improves the Chargers to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play.Â
Friday's match was the final regular season match for the Chargers and while the team will not qualify for the team playoffs, those individuals who qualify for the individual portion of the tournament will be notified later this weekend.
On Friday, Lancaster Bible won two of the three doubles matches as the number two doubles team of
Kayla Weaser and
Stephanie Blest won, 8-0, while the number three doubles team of
Malinda Roth and
Alicia Vossler won, 8-1. The number one doubles team of
Morgan Adams and
Brianne Smith fell just short with an 8-6 loss.
Smith rebounded with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at number two singles, while Adams lost a hard fought match at number one singles, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Weaser won her number three singles match in three sets as she was victorious, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Blest won her number four singles match, 7-5, 6-4 and Roth was victorious for the second straight day with a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Alicia Vossler won her number six singles match, 6-2, 6-0 as the Chargers went 3-2 this week as they played five matches in six days.Â
