The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team followed up its impressive five-set win against Cazenovia on Friday night with a split of its two matches on Saturday. The Chargers downed Keuka, 3-1 on Saturday morning at Horst Athletic Center and then lost to Wells, 3-1 in the afternoon. Lancaster Bible is now 4-6 overall and 2-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
Lancaster Bible 3, Keuka 1
25-22, 25-19, 24-26, 25-22How it Happened: Lancaster Bible won a close first set as the Chargers won the final three points en route to a 25-22 victory. In the second set, the teams went back-and-forth again, but with Keuka leading 16-15 late in the set, the Chargers rattled off 1- of the final 13 points of the set to win, 25-19.
Alyssa Bowen and
Myranda Kemrer keyed the Chargers late in set as Kemrer finished the Wolfpack off with a kill.
Lancaster Bible appeared to be heading to a sweep as the Chargers led 18-12 in the third set, but Keuka strung together five straight points to make it 18-17. Lancaster Bible rebounded and eventually took a 24-21 lead thanks to a Wolfpack attack error. Keuka once again wouldn't go away quietly as they tied the match at 24-24 and then won the next two points thanks to two Chargers' attack errors and sent the match to a fourth set.
The fourth set followed the script of the first three sets as the teams exchanged points for much of the set before Lancaster Bible took a 23-20 lead late in the set. Keuka tried to spoil the Chargers' plans again as the Wolfpack made it 23-22, but a kill from
Hannah Gipe and a Keuka error sealed the win for the Chargers.
By the Numbers: Kemrer finished with a match-high 14 kills and added 16 digs, while Bowen also had double-digit kills with 10...
Hannah Derr had 38 assists and 15 digs to go with two kills, while Gipe had nine kills and 18 digs...
Jenny Lenko added 14 digs and four aces and
Grace Scheuerman had 17 digs and two aces.

22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-11How it Happened: Lancaster Bible rode the momentum of its win over Keuka with a first set victory over Wells. 25-22. Trailing 18-17, the Chargers won six of the next seven points to grab a 22-19 lead and held off a late charge from the Express. The second set appeared to be going the Chargers' way as well as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead, but the Express chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the second set at 20-20. The Chargers got a kill from
Emily Olson to tie the set at 21-21, but Wells won the final four points to level the match at 1-1.
In the third set, it was Wells who took the early 5-1 lead only to see the Chargers erase it and take an 8-7 lead of their own. The teams then went back-and-forth for much of the set until Lancaster Bible took a 20-18 lead thanks to another Olson kill. Wells answered back with two straight kill and then two aces to take a 22-20 lead. Gipe hammered home a kill to make it 22-21, but the Chargers would not get closer and fell 25-22 in the third set.
In the fourth set, the five-set match from Friday night and an emotional win over Keuka on Saturday morning finally caught up with the Chargers as they ran out of gas and Wells won, 25-11 in the fourth set.Â
By the Numbers: Olson had a career-high 16 kills in the match, while Bowen had nine kills and four digs to go along with three blocks...Derr added three more kills and 35 assists, while Lenko and Scheuerman had 17 digs each.
Information Hodge Podge: The home NEAC loss is the first in program history for the Chargers as they are now 8-1 all-time...Lancaster Bible is now 3-1 all-time against the Express.
