Lancaster Bible Sweeps Cairn

The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team capped its longest homestand of the season with 3-0 victory over Cairn on Tuesday night at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers won, 25-12, 25-18, 25-20 to improve to 5-6 this season and Lancaster Bible finished its five-game homestand with a 3-2 record.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible dominated the first set as the Chargers jumped out to a 15-5 lead thanks in part to four aces. Hannah Gipe clinched the first set for the Chargers as she slammed home a kill to give Lancaster Bible a 25-12 victory. Everyone on the team saw action in the second and third set as the Chargers tried out some new lineups. The result was positive as Lauren Grimm and Alyssa Bowen each had eight kills for the Chargers, while Erin Harkey had five kills and Mary Finkbeiner had four kills. 

Hannah Thompson had a season-high 13 assists, while Natalie Kennedy had four digs and a team-high three aces. 

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 40 kills in three sets as the Chargers had 12 kills in the first set and then 14 in both the second and third sets...The .274 attacking percentage was the highest in a single match for the Chargers this season...Neither team had a block in the match.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 12-34 all-time against Cairn, but has won the last three matches against the Highlanders...Lancaster Bible is 3-3 at home this season and still has four home matches remaining this season.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns to North Eastern Athletic Conference play as the Chargers head to Morrisville, N.Y. on Friday for a 7 p.m. match against Morrisville State...From Morrisville, the Chargers will travel to Utica, N.Y. as they will face SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Polytechnic on Saturday.
