Chargers Oust Patriots in Three Sets

The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team extended its winning streak over Valley Forge to 13 straight matches on Tuesday night as the Chargers dispatched the Patriots, 3-0. The Chargers improved to 7-8 this season by defeating Valley Forge, 25-8, 25-15, 25-14. The loss drops Valley Forge to 4-8 this season.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible took control of the first set quickly as the Chargers jumped out to a 17-3 lead and never looked back and cruised to a 25-8 victory. Valley Forge responded by taking an early 7-5 lead in the second set, but the Chargers rattled off six straight points to grab an 11-7 lead. The six straight points all came via the kill as Hannah Gipe, Myranda Kemrer, Hannah Derr and Lauren Grimm all had one kill and Alyssa Bowen added two. Lancaster Bible would eventually win the set, 25-15, with 18 of the team's 25 points coming via the kill. The third set went back-and-forth in the early going, but the Chargers eventually built a 17-14 lead and then won the final eight points of the match to seal the win.

By the Numbers: Tuesday marked the seventh time in 15 matches that the Chargers have had 40 or more kills as Lancaster Bible smashed home 44 kills in the three set win...Bowen led the way with 11 kills on 19 attempts, while Gipe and Grimm had seven kills each...Hannah Thompson led the Chargers with eight digs, while Hannah Derr had a team-high 19 assists...Lancaster Bible had just 13 errors and the team's .337 hitting percentage was a season high...Valley Forge's Brittany Eberly had a match-high 13 digs.
