Chargers Open Spring Break Trip with Win

The Lancaster Bible baseball team opened its 2016 spring break trip with a 12-3 victory over Penn St. Schuylkill on Sunday night in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The victory improves the Chargers to 2-3 this season, while the Nittany Lions dropped to 2-3.

Lancaster Bible starter Zack Leonard held the Nittany Lion bats at bay and the Chargers' offense gave him four more runs of support in the third inning as Taylor doubled again, scoring Braden Elliott. Sophomore JJ Sanchez singled later in the inning as Mayer and Hunter Gray scored to make it 7-0.

An Adam Cohick double in the fifth scored Mayer and made it 8-0 and Taylor and Welsh followed with back-to-back home runs in the sixth to move the lead to 10-0. Taylor smacked his second home run of the game in the ninth inning to make it 12-0, before the Nittany Lions scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to produce the final score of 12-3.
