The Lancaster Bible women's tennis team went 1-1 over the past two days, though both matches technically finished on Saturday, as the Chargers lost to Penn College, 7-2, but defeated St. Elizabeth, 6-1. The Chargers are now 2-4 this season overall and 1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
Penn College 7, Lancaster Bible 2The Wildcats and Chargers began their match on Friday, but a late rain shower and darkness halted the match and it was concluded on Saturday evening in Lititz, Pa. Penn College won all three doubles matches as they took the first two and won the third via forfeit.Â
In singles action,
Kayla Weaser dropped a tough match at number one singles, as she won the first set, 6-4, but dropped the second, 7-5 and then lost the super-tie-breaker, 10-6.
Stephanie Blest won her number two singles match as she was victorious, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.
Hannah Zehall continued her impressive freshman season with a 7-5, 6-0 victory at number three singles, while junior
Rachel Snyder lost her number four singles match. Sarah Wetzel battled at number five singles as she lost, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).Â
Lancaster Bible 6, St. Elizabeth 1Lancaster Bible picked up its first conference win of the season as the Chargers won six of the seven matches over the Eagles. Weaser and Zehall won their number one doubles match, 8-2, while Blest and Snyder picked up an 8-0 victory at number two doubles.Â
Weaser, Blest, Zehall and Snyder all picked up singles victories. Snyder's victory was the first singles win of her collegiate career as she won, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). Zehall's singles win improved her to 6-0 this season in singles action.
Lancaster Bible is back on the court on Friday as the Chargers head to Abington, Pa. to face Penn St. Abington at 3 p.m.
