The Lancaster Bible women's tennis team ended its season with a two-match winning streak as the Chargers clipped Bryn Athyn, 5-4 on Saturday in Bryn Athyn, Pa. The Chargers finish the regular season with a 4-9 overall record and 2-5 mark in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Lancaster Bible will not play in the team portion of the NEAC Championships next weekend in Clarks Summit, Pa., but certain individuals on the team will play in the individual portion of the tournament. Selections and rankings for the tournament will be released on Sunday evening.
On Saturday, Lancaster Bible trailed, 2-1 following doubles as Bryn Athyn earned a forfeit win at number three and won the number two doubles match, 8-3 as
Kayla Weaser and
Rachel Snyder fell short against Kelsey Kowalick and Catherine Kirk. The number one doubles team of
Morgan Adams and
Stephanie Blest won their match, 8-1 and gave the Chargers a point.
Despite having to forfeit number six singles, the Chargers won four of the five played matches and were able to earn the 5-4 win. Adams rolled at number one as she won, 6-0, 6-1 over Sydney Elder. Weaser was victorious by the same score at number two singles, while Blest won her number three singles match, 6-4, 6-0 over Kowalick.Â
Snyder lost a tough match, 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 at number four singles, but she was picked up by
Sarah Wetzel at number five singles as Wetzel won the first collegiate tennis match of her career with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Lancaster Bible topped its win total from a season ago by one as last year's team finished 3-8.
