Chargers Rebound with Win Over Cazenovia

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team got back to its winning ways on Saturday as the Chargers defeated Cazenovia, 66-53 at Horst Athletic Center. How it Happened: Both teams started slowly during the first 10 minutes of the opening half as Cazenovia made just one bucket over the first eight minutes of the game and the Chargers had three. Herbie Brown and Austin Brown combined for seven of the nine points during the run, which Herbie capped with a layup. Cazenovia fought its way back into the game and used a 9-0 run of its own to trim its deficit to two. Will Thompson hit two 3-pointers during the run, while Jallah Jackson had the other.

Lancaster Bible never trailed in the first half and eventually extended its lead back to six just before halftime on a layup from Herbie Brown.

The Chargers scored the first four points of the second half on layups from Quentin Davis and Bill Livezey and the teams then went basket-for-basket for several minutes. Leading by eight, 44-36, Lancaster Bible got five straight points from Jason Kuntzelman and took its biggest lead to that point, 49-36. After Cazenovia cut the deficit to 10, Lancaster Bible used a 9-0 run over the next six minutes to open up a 58-39 lead with 6:34 to play.

The Wildcats cut the deficit to 12 at one point, but would not get any closer as the Chargers maintained their second place position in the NEAC South Division.
