Chargers Split Pair of Matches on NEAC Day

The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, as the Chargers hosted a North Eastern Athletic Conference Day of matches at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers defeated Keuka, 3-0 in the morning match, but fell to Wells, 3-2 in the afternoon. The Chargers are now 11-13 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

1st Set Highlights:
-Keuka led 13-9 midway through the opening set, but the Chargers stormed back and won nine of the next 10 points to grab an 18-14 lead
-The Chargers' lead was cut to 19-17 a few points later, but Lancaster Bible responded by winning six of the final eight points to take the set, 25-19

2nd Set Highlights:
-The second set was close for much of the set, but Lancaster Bible won seven of eight points after taking a 15-14 lead and stretched the advantage to 22-15
-Lancaster Bible had 11 kills against just three errors in the second set

3rd Set Highlights:
-The Chargers jumped out to an early lead in the third set and though Keuka cut its deficit to two at one point, the Chargers pulled away late and won, 25-18

By the Numbers: Keuka actually had more kills than the Chargers, 28-26, but Lancaster Bible had a 15.3 hitting percentage, while the Wolves posted a 1.9 hitting percentage...The Chargers had 45 digs, while Keuka posted 43...Bekah Roberts and Ashtyn Bouslog each had seven kills, while Bouslog also posted 11 digs...Allison Shuey had 18 assists, eight digs and four blocks.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 3-6 all-time against Keuka...The Chargers lost to Keuka, 3-1 last season...Lancaster Bible improved to 5-5 at home this season with the victory.

1st Set Highlights: 
-Lancaster Bible led, 7-2 early in the set, but Wells quickly erased its deficit and took an 11-9 lead on a kill from Lakshmi Martin
-The Chargers battled back and eventually took a 23-19 lead after back-to-back errors by Wells
-Wells tied the match at 24-24, but Lancaster Bible got kills from Bekah Roberts and Ashtyn Bouslog to close out the first set

2nd Set Highlights: 
-Wells grabbed an early 10-4 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 25-16 victory

3rd Set Highlights:
-The teams went back-and-forth for much of the third set and Lancaster Bible cut its deficit to one at 18-17 after a kill from Roberts
-Wells won the next four points however to take a 22-17 lead, but the Chargers rebounded to win four of five points and cut their gap to 23-21.
-The Express closed the set thanks to two straight errors by the Chargers and took a 2-1 lead in the match

4th Set Highlights:
-The set that wouldn't end was close throughout, as the teams were tied 7-7 after a Wells error
-Lancaster Bible took an 18-13 lead after another Wells error and appeared headed towards a fourth set win, however, Wells won 10 of the next 12 points and grabbed a 23-20 advantage
-The Chargers then won the next four points, three of them coming via kills from Bouslog, who carried the team throughout the match
-Lancaster Bible faced a match point at 26-25, but Bouslog's kept the team alive and though the match went tied at 27-27, the Chargers won the final two points and took the set, 29-27

5th Set Highlights:
-Wells won the first five points of the fifth set, but Lancaster Bible responded by winning six of the next seven and tied the match at 6-6 on a kill from Aleah Heyworth
-Another Bouslog kill cut the Chargers' deficit to 10-9 later in the set, but Wells proved too strong and took a 14-9 lead after four straight points, before closing out the match a point later on a kill from Jackie Allen

By the Numbers: Wells had 62 kills, while the Chargers had 56...The Chargers had 84 digs, while the Express had 86...Bouslog had a team-high 16 kills, while Hannah Gipe had 12...Senior  Myranda Kemrer had a team-high 19 digs and Suzanna Whiting had 13...Bekah Baxter added nine kills to go with two blocks, while Heyworth had six kills and 10 digs...Shuey finished with 48 assists and eight digs...Rachel Anderson had 16 kills for the Express.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 4-2 all-time against Wells...The Chargers defeated the Express, 3-1 last season...The 56 team kills are a season-high for the Chargers and the most since the team had 62 against Wesley on Oct. 22, 2015...The Chargers are 0-4 in five-set matches this season...Wells improved to 3-2 in five-set matches.
