The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team got back to its winning ways on Wednesday night in Baltimore, Md., as the Chargers swept Goucher, 3-0. The 25-4, 25-20, 25-21 victory improves the Chargers to 12-13 overall this season, while the Gophers dropped to 5-14.
1st Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible hammered Goucher, 25-4 in the opening set, earning its most lopsided set victory of the season
-The Chargers had seven kills, with no errors, on 20 attempts
-Lancaster Bible held leads of 13-2 and 22-3 in the set
2nd Set Highlights:
-The second set was much closer, and the Chargers took an 11-8 lead after winning four straight points, which junior
Jenny Lenko capped with an ace
-Leading 21-18 later in the set, Lancaster Bible got three straight kills from
Aleah Heyworth,
Allison Shuey and
Bekah Roberts, to take a 24-18 advantageÂ
3rd Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible took an early 7-2 lead, but Goucher hung around and the Gophers eventually took a 17-15 lead
-The Chargers responded and took advantage of errors by Goucher, as Lancaster Bible won five of the next six points, four of which came via errors by the Gophers
-A kill from
Hannah Gipe and one final Goucher error closed out the match for the Chargers, as they won the set, 25-21
By the Numbers: Each team had 23 kills in the match, but Lancaster Bible had just seven errors in the match, while the Gophers had 23...The Chargers had four blocks to Goucher's zero and Lancaster Bible also had 11 aces...Gipe had a team-high seven kills, while Shuey had four kills, 12 assists, four aces and two blocks...Roberts had five kills and two blocks...Sophomore
