Chargers Set to Host Bryn Athyn

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team will host a North Eastern Athletic Conference Quarterfinal game for the fourth straight season on Tuesday, as the Chargers welcome Bryn Athyn to Charger Field. Lancaster Bible is 2-1 in its previous three NEAC Quarterfinal games and used last year's victory over Cazenovia to jumpstart a run to the NEAC Final.
 
The NEAC is using a new playoff format this season where eight of the 14 teams in the conference qualified for the playoffs, four from each division. The Chargers are the second seed in the NEAC South Division, while the Lions are the third seed. Top-seeded Penn St. Berks will host fourth seed Penn St. Abington in the other NEAC South Division Quarterfinal. Following the quarterfinal round, the remaining teams will be re-seeded for the NEAC Final Four on November 4-5 held at the highest seed remaining.

How They Got Here:
Bryn Athyn: The Lions will be making their first-ever playoff appearance on Tuesday, as Bryn Athyn clinched its playoff berth by going 4-2 in the NEAC South Division.
 
Lancaster Bible: The Chargers are making their seventh straight appearance in the NEAC Playoffs and have made the postseason in each year they've been a part of the NEAC…The Chargers defeated Bryn Athyn 3-0 on Oct. 14 and thus earned the right to host the NEAC Quarterfinal match, even though they finished 4-2 as well in the NEAC South Division.
 
Leading Scorers:
Bryn Athyn: Bryn Athyn has been paced all season by Shelby Puccio who leads the NEAC in goals with 20 and is third in the conference with 42 points…Kristen White leads the NEAC in assists with 14, the third-most in NCAA Division III and she also has seven goals this season…Rose Glass' eight goals are second-most on the team and has 18 total points.
 
Lancaster Bible: Senior Raegan Horst leads the Chargers with 11 goals and 28 points this season and is tied for the team-lead with six assists…Fellow senior Rachel Kumher has seven goals and six assists for 20 points, while Kate Spiezio and Kiersten Hatch each have five goals…Karissa Akselsen and Maggie Arnold have played well down the stretch for the Chargers and have combined for five goals this year.
 
Between the Pipes:
Bryn Athyn: Allie Warren has a .842 save percentage for the Lions and has made 116 saves this year.
 
Lancaster Bible: Sophomore Rheeana Miles and freshman Kendra Brown have split time in goal this season, with Brown earning the majority of the starts over the past three weeks…Brown is 5-2-1 this season with a 1.05 goals against average and three shutouts.
 
Team Notes:
Bryn Athyn: The Lions are 0-2 all-time against Lancaster Bible, losing 3-0 to the Chargers this season and 2-0 last year in Lancaster…Bryn Athyn is 3-3 on the road this season and the Lions have just 10 goals away from home this year…Bryn Athyn has not scored away from home since Sept. 26, as the Lions have been blanked in their last three road contests…The Lions are just 1-4 against NEAC teams that made the playoffs this season.
 
Lancaster Bible: The Chargers are 3-1 all-time in the NEAC Quarterfinal round and have won their last two games in this round…Lancaster Bible is 6-0-1 this season when scoring the first goal and just 1-9 when allowing the first goal…Lancaster Bible is 4-6 at home this season…The Chargers have won three of their past four games and have scored 18 goals in those four games as the offense has begun to click towards the end of the season.
