The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team saw its program-record four-match winning streak come to an end on Monday as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Harrisburg, 6-3 in Middletown, Pa. The Chargers are now 4-3 this season, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-10.
Lancaster Bible earned one point during doubles as the number three team of
Stephanie Blest and
Rachel Snyder earned an 8-4 win. The flight one team of
Greta Strunk and
Lynndath Thelemaque suffered their first loss of the season as they lost 9-8 (5).Â
Blest kept the momentum going from her doubles victory as she took home a win in flight five singles. Blest defeated Shevia Ansary, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2), while
Sarah Wetzel won her flight six singles match, 6-1, 6-0. Senior
Brianne Smith dropped her flight three match, 6-4, 6-1 and fellow senior
Kayla Weaser lost, 6-2, 6-2 in her flight four match.
Lancaster Bible is now 1-6 all-time against Penn St. Harrisburg, with the lone win coming during the 2010 season.
The Chargers return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
