The Lancaster Bible College baseball team returned to the win column on Saturday as the Chargers took two games from Clarks Summit at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible won game one, 12-1 and took game two, 10-1. The Chargers are now 11-6 this season, while the Defenders fell to 3-14.Â
Lancaster Bible 12, Clarks Summit 1 -- Game 1
How it Happened: The Chargers scored twice in the first inning, but that did it for the offense for both teams through 3 1/2 innings as the Chargers wasted a few other opportunities, but were aided by starting pitcher
Nate Staffieri who threw a gem. Staffieri allowed just one hit in his four innings as he kept the Defenders' hitters off balance and allowed Lancaster Bible's offense to wake up.
Wake up they did as the Chargers exploded for eight runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning as freshman
Matt Taylor put an exclamation point on the inning with a three-run blast to center field. Senior
Justin Taylor followed with a two-run home run of his own in the bottom of the fifth to give Lancaster Bible a 12-0 lead and the Chargers would go on to win, 12-1.

How it Happened: Clarks Summit opened the scoring in game two with a run in the top of the first, but that is all they would get against game two starter
Dan Zimmerman, who matched Staffieri and only gave up one hit in four innings. Lancaster Bible scored four runs in its half of the first inning and grabbed a 4-1 lead.Â
Lancaster Bible extended its lead to 6-1 in the third inning on back-to-back RBI hits from junior
JJ Sanchez and Niedergall and then put the game out of reach in the sixth inning as junior
Will Welsh hit a ball towards Route 222 for a three-run home run. Sophomore
Tyler Greenly pitched the final three innings as the Chargers won, 10-1.
