Wolverines Claw Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team, in the midst of a five-match home stand, lost to Wesley, 3-0 on Tuesday night at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers fell to the Wolverines, 29-27, 25-7, 25-14 and are now 3-6 overall, while Wesley improved to 9-3 this season.

How it Happened: The first set was a back-and-forth tilt as neither team held a lead larger than four points. The Chargers battled back from several deficits late in the set and took a 21-20 lead after a kill from freshman Aleah Heyworth and two Wesley errors. The Wolverines won four of the next five points however and led 24-22 with two chances to put away the set. Sophomore Ashtyn extended the set to 24-23 with a kill and an attack error by Wesley knotted the score at 24-24.

The Chargers had a set point of their own a few points later as they took a 26-25 lead, but a Lancaster Bible error kept the Wolverines in the set. Wesley fought off another set point at 27-26 and then won the final two points of the set on Chargers' errors.

The second set began well for the Chargers as they led, 3-0, but it quickly went south as Wesley won 19 of the next 20 points to grab a 19-4 lead. The Wolverines would eventually win the set, 25-7, as the seven points for the Chargers were a season-low.

Lancaster Bible played better in the third set and trailed just 9-7 after a kill from Bekah Baxter, but Wesley won six of the next seven points to take a 15-8 lead and never looked back, holding off the Chargers, 25-14 in the final frame.
