The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team won its fifth straight match, and 11th in 12 matches, on Tuesday night, as the Chargers swept Lycoming, 3-0 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers are now 17-6 this season, while the Warriors dropped to 13-15.

Match Recap: Lancaster Bible raced out to a 7-3 lead in the opening set, as
Aleah Heyworth had a kill, and
Bekah Roberts added a block. Lycoming would come back to tie the set at 9-9, but the Chargers won three straight points later in the set to earn a 13-11 lead.
Ashtyn Bouslog and
Hannah Gipe had kills sandwiched around a block assist from
Courtney Goyak and Gipe, as the Chargers took the lead.

The Chargers won five of seven points a bit later to grab a 21-16 lead, as
Allison Shuey completed the run with a block. After another kill from Gipe gave the Chargers a set point, a Lycoming error followed, and Lancaster Bible had a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors led 11-9 midway through the second set, but Lancaster Bible won six straight points, as Bouslog had four service aces during the run that was capped by a kill from Gipe. After a Lycoming point, Lancaster Bible five more points, three of which came on aces from
Hannah Thompson. An attack error by Lyocoming a few points later gave Lancaster Bible the set and a 2-0 match lead.

Lancaster Bible won six of seven points midway through the third set to take a 17-10 lead, as Thompson added another ace to end the run. The Warriors hung tough and won six of seven points later in the set to grab a 22-21 lead, but after a timeout, Lancaster Bible won three straight points, as Shuey and Goyak teamed up for a block, followed by an ace from
Maelynne Patey and a kill from Shuey.

Lycoming cut the deficit to one, 24-23, but Lancaster Bible finished the Warriors off with a kill from Goyak after a short rally.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 38 kills, while Lycoming had 29…The Chargers had 11 aces, while the Warriors had just two…Both teams had 43 digs, while the Chargers led in team blocks, 7-5…Gipe finished with a career-best 17 kills, as she hit .467…Shuey had 30 assists, eight digs and four blocks, while Bouslog had five kills, five aces and six digs…Goyak finished with 10 kills and two blocks…Thompson added four aces and nine digs.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 2-9 all-time against Lycoming…The other win for Lancaster Bible in the series came in 2016…Gipe's previous high for kills in a match came on Sept. 21, 2017 when she had 16 against Mount Aloysius…Lancaster Bible has had double-digit service aces in back-to-back matches, and accomplished the mark for the 11th time this season on Tuesday night…The Chargers have had 33 or more kills in nine straight matches…Lancaster Bible is 8-1 at home this season.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible heads to upstate New York this weekend, as the Chargers face Cazenovia (2 p.m.) and Morrisville State (4 p.m.) on Saturday in Morrisville, N.Y…The match against Morrisville State will most likely determine the host for the NEAC Final Four on Nov. 3-4.
