Chargers & 'Cats Set for NEAC Semis

For the third time in four seasons, the Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team will appear in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Semifinals on Saturday, as the Chargers face Penn College in Abington, Pa. with a trip to the NEAC Final on the line. The game, scheduled for 2 p.m., will be a rematch of a terrifically played regular season contest that saw the Chargers earn a 2-1 victory in Lancaster, Pa.

Penn College is appearing in the NEAC Semifinals for the second straight season, as the Wildcats defeated Keuka in the NEAC Quarterfinals a year ago, before falling to eventual NEAC Champion Penn St. Abington in the semifinals.

Regular Season Meeting
Oct. 10, 2018: The teams played a hard-fought contest in mid-October, as the Wildcats opened the scoring 5:35 into the game, as Matthew Yoder scored a pretty goal off a feed from Colton Wartman…Penn College kept its lead through halftime, but the Chargers knotted the game at 1-1 at 57:38, as Chad Tolson took a pass from Jared Jordan and netted his fourth goal of the year…Play went back-and-forth over the next 30 minutes, though Penn College finished with most of the possession, but Lancaster Bible's Kedric Yoder got free in the box with under two minutes to play, and was tripped up, resulting in a penalty kick…Junior Joel Hughes stepped up and drilled a shot into the corner of the net to put the Chargers ahead, and ultimately give the home team the victory.

How They Got Here
Penn College: The Wildcats won a NEAC Quarterfinal thriller on Tuesday in Morrisville, N.Y., as Penn College advanced on penalty kicks…After Penn College went ahead 1-0 on a goal by Daniel Jackson at 54:12, Morrisville State tied the game on an own goal at 69:17…In the second overtime period, Morrisville State earned a penalty kick with less than five minutes to play, but Wildcats' goalkeeper Hunter Gosnell dove to his left and made a terrific save to keep Penn College alive…Gosnell was at it again in the penalty shootout round, holding the Mustangs scoreless on four shots, as Jackson's fifth round goal sent the Wildcats to the semifinals.

Lancaster Bible: The Chargers earned their second-ever bye into the NEAC Semifinals, as the team went 9-2 in conference play this season, only losing to regular season champion Penn St. Abington, and Keuka…The only other time Lancaster Bible has had a bye, came in 2014 when the Chargers then defeated Keuka in the semifinals, but then lost to Morrisville State, 2-0 in the NEAC Final.

Statistically Speaking
