Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Zach Freeman

Lancaster Bible Wins Third Straight

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team won its third straight game on Wednesday night, defeating Gallaudet, 70-61 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers are now 4-3 overall this season, and a perfect 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Bison dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Game Recap: Both teams struggled to find the basket in the opening five minutes, as the Chargers took just a 5-2 lead on a 3-pointer from Britton Beachy with 15:27 left to play in the half. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Isaac and Luke Beers gave the Chargers an 11-6 lead, but Gallaudet used an 8-0 run over a four minute span to grab a 14-11 advantage with 10:31 remaining.

Lancaster Bible tied the game, and after trailing for a brief moment, took a 17-16 lead after another triple from Luke Beers. Beers would drain another 3-pointer 55 seconds later to build the lead to four, but Gallaudet again fought back and led 25-22 after a three-point play from Ke'Trez Holman.

Benny Raymond knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game at 25-25, and a late 6-0 run from the Chargers gave them a 32-27 lead at halftime.

Lancaster Bible's Jordan Shewbridge knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half, as the Chargers led, 38-27 just 35 seconds into the second frame. Shewbridge hit another triple at the 16:09 mark to extend the lead to 12, and then again at 14:39 to make it a 48-38 game in favor of the Chargers.

Shewbridge hit his fifth and final 3-pointer of the half at 12:41, while Isaac Beers converted two straight layups, followed by a layup from Alex Whitt, to give the Chargers a 57-39 lead with 11:10 to play.

The Bison kept chipping away over the next few minutes, and trailed just 61-55 with 4:23 to play after a layup from Shawn Daniels. Lancaster Bible recovered, and scored the next six points, the final four coming from Luke Beers, to put the game away for good.

"We have lots of work to do, and need to be able to find energy more often in games. I thought Benny came in and gave us good minutes tonight, and Jordan's big scoring run early in the second half was a big boost as well. We just need to add consistency to more parts of our game, which I think we will do."
