The Lancaster Bible College baseball team continued its winning ways on Thursday, taking two games from Albertus Magnus in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Chargers won game one, 11-10, and erupted for 19 runs in a 19-12 victory in game two. Lancaster Bible has now won seven straight games and is 7-5 overall this season.
Lancaster Bible 11, Albertus Magnus 10
Game Notes: Lancaster Bible scored three times in the opening inning, highlighted by junior Will Welsh's sixth home run of the season...The Falcons responded with three runs in their half of the second inning, but the Chargers scored twice in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles from sophomore Sam Taylor and junior Colin Myers, and grabbed a 5-3 lead...Lancaster Bible scored three more times in the home half of the third inning, as senior Jacob Schenck had an RBI double in the inning...Albertus Magnus cut its deficit to just 8-6 after a three-run home in the top of the fourth, but the Chargers responded with three runs in their half of the inning, highlighted by junior Adam Cohick's two-run single...The Falcons scored twice in both the sixth and seventh innings, but freshman Trevor High stood his ground in the seventh and closed out the game for his second save of the season.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 15 hits in game one, including three from Welsh who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI...Cohick was also 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored...Schenck was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Sam Taylor was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI...Eight different players scored a run for the Chargers, and seven different players had at least one RBI...Freshman Noah McMullen scattered six hits over five innings, as he struck out two, and earned his team-best third win of the season...Junior Tyler Greenly threw one inning as well for the Chargers, before High came in for the save in the seventh.

Game Notes: The Chargers' bats stayed hot in game two, as Lancaster Bible scored eight runs in the top of the first...Welsh and sophomore Matt Taylor each had two-run doubles in the first, while Schenck hammered a three-run home run...Sam Taylor followed Schenck's blast with a home run of his own to cap the eight-run first...Albertus Magnus answered with five runs in the bottom of the second, but the Chargers fought right back with four runs in the top of the third...Junior Jacob Alvarez homered in the third, while Myers had a two-run single in the inning...Myers was at it again in the fourth, as he singled home Matt Taylor as part of a three-run inning that saw the Chargers take a 15-5 advantage...The Falcons scored three time in the fourth as well, and the teams matched runs the rest of the way, ending with a 19-12 victory for the Chargers.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had 16 hits in game two, as five players had two or more hits...Sam Taylor was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI...Myers was 3-for-5 as well with three RBI and two runs scored...Senior Braden Elliott was 2-for-4 with two runs...Matt Taylor was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI...Schenck finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs...Sophomore Dan Zimmerman started for the Chargers, and threw two innings, while senior Nate Staffieri pitched the third and fourth, before Elliott threw the final two innings...Staffieri earned the victory, his first of the season...The Chargers are now 5-0 all-time against Albertus Magnus, as Lancaster Bible defeated the Falcons three times last season in Myrtle Beach.
