Chargers Take Two from Trinity (D.C.)

The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team moved above the .500 mark on Friday thanks to a rare doubleheader sweep, as the Chargers defeated Trinity (D.C.) twice at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. Both teams, needing matches after a rough spell of weather in March, decided to play a doubleheader on Friday, as the Chargers were supposed to visit Trinity (D.C.) earlier in March, but couldn't due to weather.

In the opening match, Lancaster Bible swept all three doubles matches to build a 3-0 lead. The number one doubles team of Greta Strunk and Michaela Dearborn won, 8-0, as did the flight two team of Lynndath Thelemaque and Sarah Wetzel. Not wanting to be left out, the flight three doubles team of Haylee Fishel and Lydia Dice also won, 8-0.

The singles matches were played as eight-game pro-sets due to court availability, and Strunk and Dearborn both cruised to 8-1 victories. Fishel, playing at number five singles, won 8-0, as did flight six player Lydia Dice. Due to court availability, Thelemaque and Wetzel did not finish their matches, as the Chargers won, 7-0.

In the second match, the Chargers once again won all three doubles matches once again, en route to a 5-0 victory. The flight one team of Strunk and Dearborn won, 8-0 again, as did the flight three team of Fishel and Dice. Thelemaque and Wetzel cruised as well, winning, 8-1.

Strunk (flight one) and Dearborn (flight two) each won their singles match, 8-0, while the other matches could not be played due to court availability.

Lancaster Bible (3-2) is back in action on Wednesday, when the Chargers open North Eastern Athletic Conference play at Bryn Athyn. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
