The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team concluded North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 victory over Penn College on Saturday in Williamsport, Pa. The Chargers are now 6-4 overall and finish conference play with a 3-2 record. Penn College is now 1-11 overall and 1-3 in conference play, as all teams will finish conference play by Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday, the flight one doubles team of Greta Strunk and Michaela Dearborn cruised to an 8-0 victory, while the number two team of Lynndath Thelemaque and Sarah Wetzel won, 8-3. Haylee Fishel and Lydia Dice finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at number three doubles.
Strunk picked up a victory at flight one singles with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Penn College's Jane Herman. Thelemaque was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at number two singles, while Dearborn won 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles. Wetzel won the match of the day at number four singles, as she battled back after a first set loss for a 5-7, 7-6 (7-1), 10-2 win.Â
Fishel won, 8-5 at flight five singles in a pro-match to eight, while Dice also won a pro-set, earning an 8-0 win at number six singles.
The Chargers will wrap-up their regular season on Tuesday, when they host Eastern at 2:45 p.m. at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa.
