The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team swept a tri-match on Saturday in Williamsport, Pa., as the Chargers defeated host Penn College, 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, and then defeated Alfred State, 3-0 as well. The Chargers are now 6-4 overall this season, and 1-0 in NEAC play.

Match Recap: The Chargers opened the match on an 11-2 run, and cruised to a first set victory, and then started the second set on an 8-2 run, en route to a comfortable set two win.

Penn College led 8-7 early in the third set, but Lancaster Bible rattled off six straight points, four of which came off aces from
Taylor Beeler. The Chargers never trailed again, and a kill from
Aleah Heyworth and an error by the Wildcats, sealed the win for Lancaster Bible.

Match Recap: Leading 14-10 in the opening set, Lancaster Bible got a kill from Gipe, and an ace from
Jenny Mulvey to grab a six-point lead, but Alfred State battled back and tied the match at 18-18 after six straight points. Lancaster Bible hung tough and won five of the final six points of the set, including the last three, to take the set.

The Chargers took an early lead in the second set and never looked back, closing out the set with three straight points to win, 25-15.

Alfred State jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the third set, but Lancaster Bible won nine straight points to grab a 12-7 advantage.
Bekah Roberts had two kills during the run, while Shuey added an ace. Alfred State tied the set a 15-15 a bit later, but again, Lancaster Bible used its mental toughness to battle, and eventually take the set and the match on a kill from Heyworth.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible held a 38-30 advantage in kills, and a 10-3 edge in blocks…The Chargers also held a 39-38 edge in digs…Heyworth had a team-best 11 kills, and also added four blocks and eight digs…Gipe had 10 kills to go with four digs, while Goyak had six kills and seven blocks…Roberts finished with seven kills and three blocks, and Shuey had 35 assists, three aces and five blocks…
