The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team came up just short in securing its first win of 2018 on Tuesday night, as the Chargers lost to Hood, 1-0 at Donald H. Funk Field. Lancaster Bible is now 0-6 this season, while the Blazers improved to 1-5.Â
Game Recap: In a game that would feature little offense, Hood took the first shot of the game at 19:36, as Naomi Garcia's chance was blocked by the Lancaster Bible defense. The Blazers had another chance six minutes later, but Chargers' goalie
Anne VanBuskirk was up to the task and made her first save of the game to keep the contest scoreless.
Hood managed two more shots and two penalty corners before the end of the first half, but both shots missed, and the penalty tries were unsuccessful, and the teams went to the break knotted at 0-0.
The Chargers struggled turning possession of the ball into offense, and Hood made them pay at 53:42, as Patricia Huerta scored not only her first goal of the year, but Hood's first goal of the season, to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.
Hood kept the offensive pressure up following its goal, but the Chargers regrouped and played well defensively. Lancaster Bible finally got two offensive chances late in the contest, but
Cassidy Snedeker and
Kara Siegrist's shots were saved by Hood goalie Nicole Bennett. Â
