The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday with an 83-78 victory over Cabrini in Radnor, Pa. Lancaster Bible is now 6-5 this season, while the Cavaliers fell to 2-11.

How it Happened: Both offenses started the game well, as the teams traded baskets early, and the Chargers took a 9-8 lead 2:47 into the contest on two free throws from
Quentin Davis who had five of the Chargers' first nine points.

Cabrini went on a 10-2 run over a two-minute span, and grabbed a 22-14 lead 5:48 into the game. Lancaster Bible chipped away at the deficit over the next five minutes, as several Chargers scored, including
Benny Raymond, whose 3-pointer with 7:57 remaining gave Lancaster Bible a 31-30 advantage.

Raymond and
Luke Beers continued to pace the Chargers over the final minutes of the opening half, as the Chargers eventually built a 47-39 lead, but saw it disappear over the final 2:33 over the half, and the teams went to halftime knotted at 47-47.

The second half saw less offense from each team, but Lancaster Bible continued to share the ball well, as five different players scored the Chargers first five buckets of the second frame, and Lancaster Bible held a 59-58 lead midway through the second half. Back-to-back baskets from
Alex Whitt moved the Chargers lead to 63-58, but Cabrini answered with five straight points and tied the game at 63-63 with exactly 10 minutes to play.

Brett Bechler and Davis hit back-to-back jumpers with under seven minutes to play, as the Chargers took a 70-65 lead, but the advantage shrunk to 70-69 with 4:04 to play as Voshon Mack converted a layup for the Cavaliers. Cabrini tied the game at 74-74 with 1:38 to play, but
Jordan Shewbridge gave Lancaster Bible a 76-74 lead off a great pass under the basket from
Britton Beachy with 1:09 to play.

After an empty possession from Cabrini on the other end of the floor, Lancaster Bible used all of the shot clock, and Beachy found
Luke Beers wide open in the corner, and Beers nailed a 3-pointer and effectively ended the game. Beachy and Shewbridge knocked down free throws in the final seconds to give the Chargers their second road win of the year.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the floor, including 10-of-24 from 3-point range, and was 15-of-19 from the free throw line…The Cavaliers shot 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field, including 9-of-22 from beyond the arc, and were just 9-of-17 from the free throw line…Raymond led five players in double figures with 15 points, while
Luke Beers and Shewbridge each had 14 points…Beachy added 10 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Whitt had 12 points and nine boards…
Isaac Beers added six rebounds and three assists, while Davis had eight points and five boards…Alsmith Saintilus had a game-high 21 points for the Cavaliers.

Andrew Wingreen said. "We executed very well offensively, which has been our biggest struggle this season, and something we have been working on a lot in practice."

More on the Offense: "We had great tempo today, and found a way to get great shots from solid ball movement, player movement, and spacing," Wingreen said.

Defensively Speaking: "I thought our defense really stepped up after the first five minutes of the game, and throughout the second half," Wingreen said. "We made some adjustments at halftime which were effective on the defensive side of the basketball. I'm proud of our resiliency today, and the team earned the win."

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 1-2 all-time against Cabrini…The last time these teams met was Jan. 4, 2011 when Cabrini defeated the Chargers, 98-61…The Chargers are now 2-3 in true away games this season, and 2-4 in all games away from Horst Athletic Center…Raymond's 15 points are a career-high, and he has averaged 11 points in Lancaster Bible's first two games of 2019…The 78.9 percentage from the free throw line was a season-high for the Chargers…Lancaster Bible posted double-digit made 3-pointers for the second straight game, and the third time in five contests.
