The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team lost its third straight Colonial States Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night, and sixth overall, as the Chargers fell to Cedar Crest, 4-1Â at the Donald H. Funk Field. Lancaster Bible is now 3-13 overall this season and 1-4 in CSAC play, while the Falcons improved to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in CSAC action.
Â
How it Happened: Cedar Crest dominated possession during the first half, as the Falcons posted 15 shots, and had 17 penalty corners. Lancaster Bible goalie
Chloe Campbell did her best to stem the tide, as she saved a penalty stroke just 3:07 into the contest, and kept the game scoreless. Cedar Crest got on the board six minutes later, as Kiley Marone, Cedar Crest's leading scorer netted her eighth goal of the year at the 9:06 mark when she took a pass from Samantha Johnson and scored into the lower left-hand corner.
Â
The Falcons led 1-0 at the end of one quarter, but Johnson doubled the visitors' lead to 2-0 at 16:31, as she collected the ball in the circle and scored into the lower left-hand side of the corner as well. Serena Shuler extended Cedar Crest's lead to 3-0 just 49 seconds later when she drilled a shot underneath the arm of Campbell.
Â
Campbell was terrific in the first half for the Chargers, as she made eight saves, and Lancaster Bible trailed, 3-0 after 30 minutes.
Â
Neither team scored in a fairly uneventful third quarter, but Lancaster Bible played its best quarter of the game in the fourth, as the Chargers possessed the ball more, and earned a penalty corner midway through the half. On the ensuing corner,
Nicole DeKok received the ball and found
Corryn Wolgemuth to the left side of the goal, and Wolgemuth found the back of the cage for her first goal of the season, and the Chargers cut their deficit to two.
Â
Cedar Crest responded less than two minutes later, as Alexx Miller blasted a shot off a penalty corner, and restored the Falcons three-goal lead.
Â
