The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team lost its second straight game on Wednesday night, as the Chargers fell 2-1 to Notre Dame (Md.) in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. The Chargers are now 3-9 overall this season and 1-2 in CSAC play, while the Gators improved to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in conference action. Â

How it Happened: The opening quarter featured little offense, as Notre Dame (Md.) took the lone shot of the quarter with 9:52 remaining, and Lancaster Bible goalie
Chloe Campbell made the first of her five saves on the day.

The Chargers earned two penalty corner tries, and two shots in the second quarter, though both shots were saved. The second quarter appeared to be ending as the first did with the game scoreless, but the Gators' Vanessa Dunn was awarded a penalty stroke with 18 seconds remaining, and converted the try for her 10
th goal of the season.

Notre Dame (Md.) carried its 1-0 lead through halftime, and well into the third quarter, but Lancaster Bible earned a penalty corner with just over four minutes remaining, and eventually turned the possession into a scoring chance, and senior
Nina Statuti scored her fifth goal of the year with 3:43 left in the quarter off a pass from
Macy Balmer, to tie the game at 1-1.

The Gators hammered the Chargers' end in the fourth quarter, and Lancaster Bible fought off five penalty corners and three shots, but with just over five minutes to play, Notre Dame (Md.) earned yet another penalty corner, and made the Chargers pay six seconds later, as Katie Hawkins scored off a feed from Dunn.

Cassidy Snedeker had a shot for the Chargers a minute after Hawkins' goal, but it went wide, and Lancaster Bible wouldn't get another chance to tie the game.

Statistically Speaking: Notre Dame (Md.) led in shots, 10-5, including an 8-4 edge in shots on goal…Campbell finished with five saves for the Chargers, while
Corryn Wolgemuth made a defensive save as well…Notre Dame (Md.) had a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners, with nine of the 10 coming in the second half.
