Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Zach Freeman

Highlanders Best Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team dropped its second straight game on Monday night, falling to longtime rival Cairn, 114-81 in Langhorne, Pa. The loss sends the Chargers to 1-4 overall this season, while the Highlanders improved to 3-3.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible led early in the contest, 4-3, and then tied the game at 6-6 on a layup from William Afoakwah 2:44 into the opening half, but that would be the last time the game would be tied, as Cairn embarked on a 19-3 run over the next six minutes, and led 25-9 with 11:34 remaining in the half.

The Highlanders' lead nearly stretched to 20 on multiple occasions, but a short Lancaster Bible run with just over seven minutes to play in the half cut the deficit to 13, as Britton Beachy knocked down a 3-pointer to cut Cairn's lead to 40-27. The teams traded baskets the rest of the half, and Lancaster Bible trailed, 58-43 after 20 minutes of play.

Things went from bad to worse for the Chargers in the second half, as the teams traded buckets for the first 10 minutes, but Cairn eventually grew the lead to 20 midway through the half, and extended it to almost 30 with six minutes to play.
