Women's Soccer Ready for NEAC Quarterfinals

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer will appear in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Playoffs for the ninth straight season on Tuesday, as the Chargers will make the short trip up Route 283 to Middletown, Pa. to face the third-seeded Nittany Lions from Penn St. Harrisburg at 2 p.m. The Nittany Lions won the regular season matchup, 2-1 on Sept. 21 in Lancaster, while the Chargers will look to return the favor and win on the road on Tuesday.
 
The other NEAC Quarterfinal features SUNY Poly at Penn College, and the winner of that contest will face top-seeded Penn St. Berks on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in Reading, Pa. The winner of the Lancaster Bible / Penn St. Harrisburg game will take on second-seeded Keuka on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Reading, Pa. The semifinal winners will battle in the NEAC Final on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Reading, Pa.

Regular Season Meeting
Sept. 21, 2019: Penn St. Harrisburg defeated the Chargers, 2-1 in Lancaster in mid-September, as the teams combined for the three gals in just a 7:41 span that covered two halves…Samantha Day scored at 41:18 to open the scoring, and the Nittany Lions held a 1-0 lead through halftime, but Kara Huber scored for the Chargers at 47:00 to knot the game at 1-1…The tie game lasted just 1:59, as Kristen Stark scored off a pass from Elizabeth Clippinger at 48:59 to restore the Nittany Lions' one-goal lead, and they won by the same margin…Penn St. Harrisburg held a 21-7 lead in shots, including a 14-2 edge in the second half…The Nittany Lions also led, 7-1 in corner kick opportunities…Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Erin Mikula made eight saves in the loss, while Hannah Williams had three saves for Penn St. Harrisburg.

Lancaster Bible: The Chargers had to defeat Cazenovia on the final day of the regular season to continue their streak of NEAC Playoff appearances, as the Chargers defeated the Wildcats, 2-1 last Saturday at the Donald H. Funk Field…The Chargers were 2-3 in their final five games of the regular season.
 
Penn St. Harrisburg: The Nittany Lions played just once on the final weekend of the regular season, as Penn St. Harrisburg did not play Saturday, because SUNY Cobleskill did not have enough players, and the game was treated as a no contest…The Nittany Lions did defeat SUNY Poly, 5-2 on Friday to wrap-up their regular season, as the team went 3-2 in its final five games, including the no-contest victory over SUNY Cobleskill.
